My name is Alex and I am a Girlguiding Leader from Berkshire. I’ve been in the Girlguiding family since joining as a Rainbow wearing a rather fetching red pinafore, rising through the ranks to become a brownie. I was never a Guide after heading off to boarding school. About 7 years ago I rejoined the Girlguiding family as a Guiding Leader in Hampshire and more recently Berkshire. Some of my highlights so far include PGL trips and the crazy leap of faith! I love camping as I’ve been on a variety of camps in all weathers. I think my bravest camp was Sparkle and Ice – yes camping in February at Foxlease. I’ve been Deputy Sub Camp Leader for our Summer District camp to Foxlease and more recently been part of the team organising our Carnival Themed District camp to Thirtover Place catering for Rainbows, Brownies and Guides. My passion to continue to be part of Girlguiding is giving everyone the space and confidence to try new things, make new friendships and realise that nothing is impossible.
My role for WINGS 2020 is I’m one the Deputy Sub-Camp Leaders, supporting the Sub-Camp leaders, wider volunteer team and participants. Being a newbie to WINGS I’m really excited about this global experience and mixing with volunteers and participants from all over the world. I’m a friendly face and can have a good sense of humour under most conditions!
